May 11, 2008 - Happy Mother's Day!
On behalf of all here at the NDFA, here is wishing you a Happy and Blessed Mothers Day. A mother’s role in the family cannot be duplicated or replaced. It was inspired and designed by God, the Creator, Himself. No wonder, mothers are ‘more precious than diamonds, worth more than rubies’. Mothers, you have a place all alone in God’s creation. Mothers, you truly are special!
To honor mothers on this special day, below find a prayer, scripture, and an account of the founding of Mothers Day.
God Bless.
_______________
Loving God,
We thank you for the love of the mothers you have given us,
whose love is so precious that it can never be measured,
whose patience seems to have no end.
May we see your loving hand behind them and guiding them.
We pray for those mothers who fear they will run out of love
or time, or patience.
We ask you to bless them with your own special love.
We ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
Amen.
_______________
Scripture for mothers and wives-
A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
"Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all."
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Give her the reward she has earned,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
_______________
The founding of Mother's Day-
The religious and deeply Christian origins of Mother''s Day reflect the faith of the woman credited as its founder, Anna Jarvis.
Methodist
When the Civil War broke out she called together several of her clubs and asked them to make a pledge that friendship and good will would not be a casualty of the war. In a remarkable display of courage and compassion the women nursed soldiers from both sides and saved many lives.
A peacemaker who healed the wounds of war
As if that weren't enough, Anna Reeves Jarvis became a genuine peace maker after the war. The wounds and animosity between families who fought on either side were deep. So Anna organized "Mothers' Friendship Days" to bring together families across the Mason Dixon line.
Anna Jarvis was born in 1850 and was an impressionable child and teenager when her mother was at the peak of her courageous work. So in 1907, two years after her mother's death, she organized the first "mothers' day" in Grafton so that the work of peacemaking and the war against poverty which her mother waged would not be forgotten.
If Mother's Day has become too commercial, Anna Jarvis would have been the first to object, indeed, she did protest the profiteering that had become part of Mother's Day even during her lifetime. The remedy for the excesses of this popular holiday, is not to ignore them, but to lift up the story of its founder, and her own mother, Anna Reeves Jarvis, both of whom exemplified the very best that the Christian faith has to offer.

September 27, 2007 - The Truth Project - Churches needed to host simulacast
According to a 2003 Barna study, only 9% of professing Christians have a biblical worldview. The evidence of this is all around us in a culture where we spend our money and time on things that fail to satisfy and find ourselves wondering what life's ultimate purpose really is. We are losing our bearings as a people and as a nation. Yet God's Truth exists, and it is within reach if we seek it.
