Tom “Parenting Roles – Smart Step Parenting”, today’s topic for ‘Celebrating Family Week, 2009, November 15th-21st.

Here is Former First Lady Nancy Schafer----

“Early in remarriage, the most successful step parent-stepchild relationships are those where the step parent focuses first on the development of a warm, friendly relationship with the stepchild. “

The ability to lead and influence children comes the old-fashioned way – you earn it. Trust, honor, and respect, grow over time and there is no quick way to establish that.
Unity within the couple’s relationship bridges the emotional gap between the step parent and stepchildren and positions both husband and wife to lead the family.

Finally, and most important, effective parent-step parent teams begin with healthy marriages. Take time to nurture your relationship, make your marriage a priority, and your family will benefit for a lifetime!
