NORTH DAKOTA FAMILY ALLIANCE ANNOUNCES “CELEBRATE FAMILY WEEK,” NOVEMBER 15-21, 2009

The NDFA Initiates a Week - Focusing on Parenting 

(FARGO, ND) -- The North Dakota Family Alliance‘s (NDFA) 3rd annual Family Week begins Sunday, November 15th. Believing that the family is the foundation of society and that family values in North Dakota need protecting, the NDFA initiates and promotes key issues through legislation and public causes.

North Dakota Governor John Hoeven issued a Family Week Proclamation at the NDFA‘s request. In addition to the statewide awareness of Family Week through this proclamation and posters to every North Dakota school and church, many businesses and various groups are drawing attention to Family Week.

This year‘s Family Week Celebration focuses on 'parenting‘. "Our children are so important to us and the influence of parents is paramount", states Tom Freier, Executive Director of the North Dakota Family Alliance. Each day during the Family Week Celebration a unique parenting message will be shared by radio, and on the NDFA website. Parenting messages will highlight the importance of family talk, fatherhood, the cultural influence on children, developing a connection with your kids and keys to step-parenting.

The week‘s celebration will include radio interviews with Dr. Maier, a Focus on the Family lead-ing psychologist, who often fills in for Dr. James Dobson. A 'Focus on Parenting Simulcast‘ will be available on Saturday, November 14th at a number of locations around the state. Other noted experts will share great insight into the role of parenting and how it affects children.

As proud sponsors, Scheels, Miller Insulation and MVP/J5 Trucking have demonstrated their commitment to the family. They live out this commitment every day in their relationship with their employees and families.

Tom Freier, NDFA Executive Director, states, "A healthy family environment benefits all, and of course, most certainly—the family itself. It affects the time students spend in school, em-ployees in the workplace, fellowship at church, and just all we do in our society. As the well being of the family goes, so goes the health of almost everything else. The most valuable com-modity we have is time; let‘s share it with those we love most—our family."‖
