NORTH DAKOTA CITIZENS PREPARE TO VOTE - A PRIVILEGE EARNED LONG AGO AT A HIGH PRICE
North Dakota Family Alliance's Voter Guide Informs Citizens on Key Issues
(FARGO, ND) -- The North Dakota Family Alliance's 2008 General Election Voter's Guide is now available to inform and assist North Dakota citizens preparing to vote on November 4th. Answers to questions important to family values and matters of faith are included from candidates in statewide and legislative races.
Questions ranged from those dealing with the sanctity of life...to marriage...to abstinence...to homosexuality...and to other public policy issues. The candidates' responses are shared in the voter's guide, along with contact information for those candidates not responding. "We just feel it is so important for the electorate to be fully informed on the issues important to the family, and then to have a meaningful conversation with their candidates about those issues," shares Tom Freier, executive director of the North Dakota Family Alliance (NDFA).
The NDFA is distributing printed and electronic copies. "We are confident that thousands of voters will see and use the NDFA Voter's Guide available at churches, businesses, and through personal contacts," said Freier. The guides were hand-delivered to many locations across the state in the last 10 days by Freier himself.
"The right to vote is a precious privilege, earned long ago at a high price, and should not be taken for granted. Please avail yourselves to this voter's guide, and to others, as you prepare to exercise your right to vote," encourages Tom Freier.
North Dakota's eligible voters this year could reach close to 500,000. An average North Dakota voter turnout is 65% for a presidential election year.
During the 2007 North Dakota legislative session, the NDFA monitored over 50 bills dealing with matters important to the family. On bills the NDFA took a stated position, the NDFA position prevailed over 75% of the time. In the upcoming 2009 legislative session, it plans to offer and support legislation on 3 key items: 1) requiring ultrasounds prior to an abortion, 2) enhancing the informed consent disclosure language, and 3) enhancing the alternative to abortion program. It also plans to offer ‘sexually oriented business' statewide regulation legislation.
The NDFA's mission is to strengthen families and to protect family values and religious freedoms. Each day the NDFA strives to realize its vision of "being a trusted voice impacting our legacy."
The NDFA Voter's Guide can be viewed and downloaded here. Additional comments shared by the responding candidates can also be seen here. Complimentary pre-printed copies are available at the new Fargo NDFA office located at 3220 18th Street South, Suite 8, by calling 701-364-0676 or with email at admin@ndfa.org.
